New Parents: Child Safety Tips

Listed below are just a few general tips to keep in mind to ensure your child’s safety:

  • Make sure that cribs, car seats, and toys are all assembled correctly and are being used according to their proper safety guidelines.
  • Especially with newborns, listen carefully to instructions from doctors and hospitals.
  • Keep cribs completely empty of anything that could create a breathing or choking hazard for the child.
  • Carefully watch small children when they are at play or in a public place, and set up a good communication system for older children so you know where they are and who they are with at all times.
  • Find a good pediatrician whom you can trust.
  • Trust your parental instincts—they are usually right!
